To his standard menu, Ilan adds a tour de force of 12 nightly main-course specials and all kinds of dynamite appetizers, depending on what’s fresh and available in the market. Come with friends so you can sample and share. You might find a Bokaharian soup made with chickpeas, lamb-meat dumplings, and sweet-and-sour dried berries; or shrimps on grilled figs; or lighter-than-air coriander fish kabobs. Or you might find tempura shrimp or chicken stuffed with rice and minced lamb spiced with cumin  The ambiance is informal but elegant.

Even though it runs right into busy King George Street, one of the main thoroughfares of downtown Jerusalem, HaMa’alot street is an oasis of sylvan calm.  Link makes the most of its placid, sun-dappled location. By day, the restaurant is part cafe, part cosmopolitan bistro – at night, the cafeaspect yields to the bar as Link transforms into a hopping spot for late-night meals and meet-ups. If the weather is nice, and between April and October it always is, find a table in Link’s outdoor garden courtyard for true Jerusalem ambiance. Link’s chef-driven affair that highlights Jerusalem’s abundance of local and seasonal goods, and it draws its inspirations both from local flavors and the bistro culture of Western Europe. The main courses feature plenty of steak, as well as burgers, kebabs and grilled fish.

Machneyuda Restaurant – Beit Yaakov 10 Mahane Yehuda Market, Jerusalem

The restaurant which is located in ‘Machne Yehuda Market’ is the result of the meeting of three chefs: Yossi Elad, Asaf Granit, and Uri Navon. The three chefs are getting their cooking ingredients from the local market and cook it in their fully interactive open kitchen, in front of the guests. The restaurant menu is changed daily according to what the market has to offer.  The various fish and sea food served in the restaurant are from local suppliers, as well as the meat (beef and lambs) that comes from local Israeli farmers. When you enter the restaurant you’ll see wooden crates filled with fresh and colorful fruit and vegetables from the near market.  While the scenery on the second floor is in a fact an open “storage room”. Olive oil, wine bottles, risotto rice, dates honey, Italian tomato tins and different spices are just some of the ingredients that decorate the shelves and open cupboards. ‘Machne-yuda’ Restaurant has a unique and varied wine menu which gives and tasty food matched only by its electrifying atmosphere.

Open 24/7, this stylish, friendly place with a young spirit is located in the upstairs rooms of an old stone building on the Yoel Saloman pedestrian street.  It serves a wide range of light and full meals, or you can just stop by for elegant soup, a good coffee or a special salad. It works as a spot for lunch or dinner.  Excellent brunches are served till late.  Lunch (until 4pm).

Mona- the popular Jerusalem restaurant-bar, is located in a picturesque old stone building in the Jerusalem Artists’ House (the former Bezalel Art School). The menu includes a wide range of Mediterranean-inspired dishes. Mona is famous for its meat and sea-food, with a well stocked bar- a home for its many regulars, journalists and Jerusalem personalities. A cozy atmosphere around the fireplace in the winter and outdoor seating in the courtyards for cool summer evenings. Mona features live monthly concerts.
